Metal in all-porcelain crowns
A crown — sometimes called a cap — fits over a prepared tooth to make it strong and give it the shape of a natural tooth. It protects teeth that are broken, weakened by decay or carrying a very large filling.
All-porcelain crowns are metal-free, stain-resistant and matched to your own colour, so there is no dark line at the gum. After root canal treatment a crown is often the best way to protect the tooth.
